Why DHA homes go solar with SNM

Cut a large DHA electricity bill

A DHA home running four to six air conditioners commonly bills Rs 50,000 to Rs 150,000 a month. A system sized to your daytime load removes the largest part of that.

Built for DHA rooftops

Our DHA installations use Trina N-type bifacial panels on elevated structures, which run cooler and pick up reflected light from the roof below.

Check your transformer first

DHA has among the highest solar uptake in Lahore, so we check your transformer saturation before quoting. LESCO refuses new applications above 80 percent.

Backup through load-shedding

Seven of our eleven documented DHA systems include battery storage, because households here want the house to keep running through load-shedding.

Solar installation in DHA Lahore: 11 documented systems

DHA Lahore is the most solar-dense part of the city, and that creates both an advantage and a constraint. The advantage is that we have installed here repeatedly and know the roofs, the phases and the LESCO sub-divisions. The constraint is transformer saturation, which now stops some applications before they start.

Below is every DHA Lahore system SNM Solutions has completed and documented, with the equipment actually fitted and the output recorded at commissioning. These are not illustrative figures.

Seven of the eleven include battery storage. That is not an accident: DHA households generally want the house to keep running through load-shedding, and under net billing a stored unit used in the evening is worth roughly five times an exported one.

What DHA homes actually need

DHA plots run from 5 marla in the newer blocks to 2 kanal in the older phases, and the load profile follows the plot size more closely than in most of Lahore.

  • 5 to 10 marla, two to three air conditioners: typically 8 to 12 kW. Our 8 kW Phase 6 and 10 kW Phase 6 and Phase 8 systems sit here.
  • 1 kanal, four to six air conditioners: typically 15 to 25 kW. This is the most common DHA size, covered by our 15 kW Phase 8, 20 kW Phase 3 and 25 kW Phase 8 installations.
  • 2 kanal and large households: 25 to 33 kW, like the 30 kW and 33 kW dual-inverter systems in Phase 8 and Phase 1.

One hard limit applies regardless of roof space: since 2026 your system cannot exceed the sanctioned load printed on your LESCO bill. Several DHA homes we survey have a sanctioned load well below what their roof and consumption would justify, and raising it is a separate LESCO application.

Transformer saturation: the DHA-specific problem

LESCO will not accept a new net-billing application where the local distribution transformer has already reached 80 percent distributed generation. DHA has among the highest solar uptake in Lahore, so this is a real and growing constraint here in a way it is not in most other areas.

We check your specific transformer before quoting. If it is saturated, we tell you before you spend anything rather than after the panels are on the roof. That check costs nothing and takes one conversation with your sub-division.

Roofs and structures in DHA

Most DHA houses have flat concrete roofs with parapet walls, which suit an elevated mounting structure. Elevating the array keeps the panels cooler, which raises output in a Lahore summer, leaves the roof usable underneath, and lets bifacial panels pick up reflected light from the surface below. Several of our DHA systems use Trina N-type bifacial modules for exactly that reason.

Newer phases and DHA Raya often have architectural constraints or society guidelines on visible rooftop equipment. We design around them rather than arguing with them.

Prices for a DHA home

SNM’s published rates, installed, including the complete LESCO net-billing application:

  • On-grid: Rs 70,000 per kW. A 15 kW system is Rs 1,050,000; a 20 kW is Rs 1,400,000.
  • Hybrid with lithium battery: Rs 150,000 per kW. A 15 kW hybrid is Rs 2,250,000.

LESCO’s own charges, including the NEPRA fee of about Rs 1,000 per kW and the bi-directional meter, are separate and we tell you those before you commit. See full system prices in Lahore or the price list by size.

What this means under 2026 net billing

Since 9 February 2026 exported units earn about Rs 11 while every unit consumed on site saves the full tariff of roughly Rs 55 to 65. For a DHA home with daytime air conditioning, most generation is consumed as it is produced, which is the best case under these rules. For a household that is out during the day, storage is what makes the numbers work. Read the 2026 net billing guide, and if you already hold a pre-2026 agreement, read what happens if you expand it before adding panels.

Frequently asked questions about solar in DHA Lahore

How much does a solar system cost in DHA Lahore?

At SNM’s published rates, on-grid is Rs 70,000 per kW and hybrid with lithium battery is Rs 150,000 per kW, installed. Most DHA homes need 10 to 25 kW, so that is Rs 700,000 to Rs 1,750,000 on-grid, or Rs 1,500,000 to Rs 3,750,000 hybrid. Our documented DHA installations range from 6 kW to 33 kW.

Which DHA phases has SNM installed in?

Our documented Lahore installations cover Phase 1, Phase 3, Phase 6, Phase 8 and DHA Raya, plus Phase III for a 6 kW hybrid. We have also installed in DHA Islamabad, DHA Karachi and DHA Multan.

Will my DHA transformer allow a new connection?

Not always. LESCO refuses new net-billing applications once a distribution transformer reaches 80 percent solar saturation, and parts of DHA have high uptake already. We check your specific transformer before quoting, because it is far cheaper to find out now than after installation.

Why do most DHA homes choose hybrid?

Because they want the house to keep running during load-shedding, and because storing daytime surplus to use in the evening saves Rs 55 to 65 a unit instead of exporting it at about Rs 11. Seven of our eleven documented DHA systems include a battery.

What size system does a 1 kanal DHA house need?

Usually 10 to 20 kW, depending on how many air conditioners run during the day. Our DHA installs cluster around 15 to 25 kW for larger homes. The hard limit is your sanctioned load, which the system cannot exceed.

How long does installation take in DHA?

Two to four days for the installation itself. The LESCO net-billing approval runs separately and takes several weeks. SNM files the complete application for you.
