Solar Panel Installation in Model Town, Lahore

Model Town’s one and two kanal houses carry large bills and, often, large trees. A shading survey is the first thing we do here, because a single shaded panel can drag down a whole string. SNM has completed hybrid and on-grid systems across the blocks from 6 kW to 20 kW.

10kw Hybrid Solar System Installation at Model Town,Lahore

Solar for Model Town's larger homes

A typical Model Town home with four to six ACs needs 10 to 20 kW, and the mature gardens mean panel placement matters more than anywhere else in Lahore. Our installations here include a 10 kW hybrid system, a 20 kW hybrid and on-grid system and a 6 kW hybrid system.

Shading surveyed first

We map tree shadows across the day and design string layouts and optimisers around them, so the yield you are promised is the yield you get.

Solar in Model Town: designing around the trees

Three documented Model Town installations, from 6 kW to 20 kW. On these plots the shading survey decides the design, so we would rather quote a smaller system we can guarantee than a headline figure the trees will take back in December.

Model Town is one of Lahore’s older planned neighbourhoods, and its mature trees are the defining engineering constraint. A single shaded panel can pull down the output of every panel wired in series with it, so here the shading survey is not a formality, it is the design.

How we handle shading

Before quoting we map where shadows fall across the day and across the seasons, because a tree that clears the roof in June may cover a third of it in December when the sun sits lower. From that map we decide three things:

  • Where panels go, favouring the areas that stay clear longest.
  • How strings are grouped, so a shaded panel affects as few others as possible.
  • Whether optimisers are justified, which they sometimes are here and rarely are elsewhere in Lahore.

The alternative, which some installers take, is to quote a headline size and let the customer discover the shortfall in winter. We would rather promise a smaller number and meet it.

Large plots, large loads

Model Town’s one and two kanal houses commonly run four to six air conditioners, putting them in the 10 to 20 kW range. Our documented installations here span 6 kW to 20 kW, including a 20 kW hybrid and on-grid system.

Prices

Rs 70,000 per kW on-grid and Rs 150,000 per kW hybrid, installed, with the complete LESCO application. See full Lahore prices.

Frequently asked questions

Will trees stop me installing solar in Model Town?

Rarely stop, often shape. Model Town’s mature trees mean panel placement and string layout need real thought. We map shadow movement across the day before finalising a design, because one shaded panel can drag down a whole string.

How much does solar cost in Model Town?

On-grid Rs 70,000 per kW, hybrid Rs 150,000 per kW installed. The larger plots here usually need 10 to 20 kW, so Rs 700,000 to Rs 1,400,000 on-grid.

What is string layout and why does it matter here?

Panels are wired in series strings. If one panel in a string is shaded it limits the others. In a tree-heavy area we group panels so shading affects as few as possible, and use optimisers where the layout demands it.

Does shading change with the season?

Yes, significantly. A tree that clears the roof in June can cover a third of it in December when the sun sits lower, which is why we survey across seasons rather than on one visit.
