18 kW solar system price in Pakistan: the short version

An 18 kW on-grid solar system costs approx Rs 1,450,000 installed, about Rs 81,000 per kW. An 18 kW hybrid system costs approx Rs 2,850,000 with a 16 kWh battery, about Rs 158,000 per kW. Our 18 kW hybrid installation in Iqbal Town, Lahore, has a published estimated output of 70+ units a day. Prices exclude WAPDA / LESCO net-billing charges.

18 kW solar system price in Pakistan: on-grid vs hybrid

18 kW system Installed price (approx) Works out per kW (approx)
On-grid Rs 1,450,000 Rs 81,000
Hybrid with 16 kWh battery Rs 2,850,000 Rs 158,000

Prices are approximate, installed, and exclude WAPDA / LESCO net-billing charges. Across all sizes, an on-grid solar system runs about Rs 80,000 to Rs 100,000 per kW and a hybrid solar system about Rs 135,000 to Rs 170,000 per kW, depending on size and battery. Full table: solar system prices for every size.

The gap between the two designs at this size is approx Rs 1,400,000. It pays mainly for the hybrid inverter and the battery, so the first decision is not the size but whether you need stored power at all.

18 kW vs 12 kW and 15 kW solar system price

If you are weighing 18 kW, compare it with the sizes below it. Here are the three side by side, all approx and installed.

Size On-grid (approx) Hybrid (approx)
12 kW Rs 1,000,000 Rs 1,650,000 (5 kWh) / Rs 1,850,000 (10 kWh)
15 kW Rs 1,200,000 Rs 2,550,000 (16 kWh)
18 kW Rs 1,450,000 Rs 2,850,000 (16 kWh)

Prices exclude WAPDA / LESCO net-billing charges.

Read the table in steps. On-grid, going from 15 kW to 18 kW adds approx Rs 250,000, and 18 kW costs approx Rs 450,000 more than 12 kW. Per kW, the 18 kW on-grid system works out almost the same as 15 kW: approx Rs 81,000 against approx Rs 80,000.

On hybrid, 15 kW and 18 kW are both quoted with the same 16 kWh battery, and the step from 15 kW to 18 kW adds approx Rs 300,000. Divided over more kilowatts, the hybrid price per kW works out lower: approx Rs 170,000 at 15 kW against approx Rs 158,000 at 18 kW. If you are already paying for a 16 kWh battery and your roof and consumption can use the extra array, ask for both sizes to be priced for your roof before you decide.

18 kW solar system unit generation and panels needed

We would rather show you the figures published for our own 18 kW installations than quote a generic number. These are expected (design) output figures from each project page, not metered readings. Real production moves with season, shading and dust.

SNM 18 kW project Design output
Iqbal Town, Lahore (hybrid) 70+ units a day, 2,200+ units a month
DHA Raya, Lahore (hybrid + on-grid) 27,594 units a year

How many panels that takes depends on the panel wattage. Divide 18,000 watts by the wattage on your quote: with 715 W panels it comes to just over 25, so a design rounds to 25 or 26 panels. The DHA Raya system used 26 panels of 710 W. Your survey confirms the exact count and layout for your roof.

What those units are worth to you depends on when you use them, not only on how many the roof makes. To see what they could be worth on your own bill, put it into the solar system calculator.

18 kW hybrid solar system with battery: our Lahore projects

Our two published 18 kW projects use different equipment, so it is worth checking exactly what a quote for this size includes.

  • Iqbal Town — three 6kW Tesla hybrid inverters, 715W panels, a battery bank of 34 × 2V 500Ah dry cell batteries, on a guarder type elevated structure.
  • DHA Raya — 26 × 710 W Trina N-Type bifacial panels on a single 15 kW Solis hybrid inverter, with battery backup.

The hybrid price above is quoted with a 16 kWh battery. The Iqbal Town project used a different battery arrangement, so if you want something other than the quoted battery, ask for an itemised quote for that exact design.

18 kW on-grid or hybrid: which one?

At 18 kW the hybrid version costs roughly twice the on-grid one, so decide on how the property actually uses power, not on the size alone.

  • Lean towards on-grid if most of your consumption happens while the sun is up: a clinic, office, showroom or school, or a large home where the ACs run through the day. It is the lower-cost design in the table above.
  • Lean towards hybrid if the property is quiet during the day and busy in the evening, or if load-shedding and unstable voltage are a problem where you are. The battery carries backed-up loads when the grid is down.

How net billing affects this choice is worth reading before you decide. We compare both designs on the same roof, and explain the rules behind the comparison, in on-grid vs hybrid solar under net billing.

Is the 16 kWh battery the right size for you?

Size the battery to your evening and your backup needs, not to the roof. The size of the array and the size of the battery are separate decisions, so a bigger roof does not automatically mean you need a bigger battery. Write down what must keep running when the grid goes off and roughly how much you use between sunset and bedtime, then compare that with the quoted battery.

Our solar battery sizing guide walks through the calculation, so you can check whether the battery in the quote matches your evening before you commit.

Before you order an 18 kW solar system: bills, load and roof

  • Bring your last twelve electricity bills. They show your consumption across summer and winter, which is what decides whether 18 kW is the right size or whether 15 kW would do.
  • Check the sanctioned load on your bill. Read DG capacity and sanctioned load on your LESCO bill before you settle on the size.
  • Ask about the connection. Tell the surveyor whether your connection is single-phase or three-phase, so the design accounts for it.
  • Measure the roof. Some 25 or 26 panels need a large shade-free area. If you live in a bigger house, our guide to a solar system for a 1 kanal house helps you match size to the property.
  • Get the quote itemised. Panel brand and wattage, inverter model and how many, battery brand and capacity, structure type, and a clear note of what is excluded, including WAPDA / LESCO net-billing charges.

Frequently asked questions

What is the price of an 18 kW solar system in Pakistan in 2026?

An 18 kW on-grid system is approx Rs 1,450,000 installed. An 18 kW hybrid system is approx Rs 2,850,000 with a 16 kWh battery. Prices exclude WAPDA / LESCO net-billing charges.

How many units does an 18 kW solar system produce per day?

Our 18 kW hybrid installation in Iqbal Town, Lahore, has a published estimated output of 70+ units a day, or 2,200+ units a month. Our DHA Raya system has a design output of 27,594 units a year. Actual production varies with season, shading and dust.

How many solar panels are needed for an 18 kW system?

Divide 18,000 watts by the panel wattage. With 715 W panels that is 25 or 26 panels. Our DHA Raya installation used 26 panels of 710 W. A site survey confirms the count for your roof.

How much more does an 18 kW system cost than a 15 kW system?

On-grid, 18 kW is approx Rs 1,450,000 against approx Rs 1,200,000 for 15 kW, a difference of approx Rs 250,000. On hybrid, both are priced with a 16 kWh battery and 18 kW is approx Rs 300,000 more.

Is an 18 kW on-grid or hybrid system better?

On-grid suits homes and businesses that use most of their power during the day and costs far less up front. Hybrid suits properties that use more power in the evening or face load-shedding, because the battery keeps backed-up loads running when the grid is off.

Why is the hybrid price per kW lower at 18 kW than at 15 kW?

Both sizes are quoted with the same 16 kWh battery, and the 18 kW hybrid costs approx Rs 300,000 more than the 15 kW one, so divided per kW it works out lower: approx Rs 170,000 per kW at 15 kW against approx Rs 158,000 per kW at 18 kW. An itemised quote shows exactly what changes between the two.
