Solar Financing in Pakistan 2026: Instalment Maths for 5, 10 and 15 kW Systems

Industrial solar installation by SNM Solutions

Solar financing in Pakistan is simple once you compare two numbers: the monthly instalment and the electricity bill it replaces. For most Lahore households they are close, which is why financed solar is often cash-flow neutral from the first month. This page shows the maths at SNM’s published prices, with illustrative bank terms.

Instalment versus bill at SNM’s prices

Prices are SNM’s published rates: on-grid Rs 70,000 per kW, hybrid with lithium battery Rs 150,000 per kW, installed. Instalments assume an illustrative 20 percent per annum reducing-balance rate; your bank’s actual markup and any processing fee will change the figures.

System Price 3-year instalment 5-year instalment Typical bill it replaces
5 kW on-grid Rs 350,000 Rs 13,007 Rs 9,273 Rs 20,000 to 35,000
10 kW on-grid Rs 700,000 Rs 26,015 Rs 18,546 Rs 40,000 to 70,000
10 kW hybrid Rs 1,500,000 Rs 55,745 Rs 39,741 Rs 40,000 to 70,000
15 kW on-grid Rs 1,050,000 Rs 39,022 Rs 27,819 Rs 60,000 to 100,000

Illustrative only. Bill ranges are typical Lahore household bills for the size shown, not a guarantee of savings.

How solar financing works in Pakistan

  • Several banks offer consumer solar loans over one to five years. Markup, tenure and eligibility differ by bank and change over time.
  • Banks usually ask for a supplier quotation and specification, proof of income, and the property’s electricity bill. We prepare the quotation in the format banks expect.
  • Some banks finance the full installed system; others finance a percentage and ask for a down payment.
  • Under 2026 net billing, the saving comes from self-consumption at roughly Rs 55 to 65 per unit, so a correctly sized system keeps the instalment-versus-bill comparison honest. Read what changed with net billing.

Cash or finance?

At current tariffs a correctly sized system pays back 2 to 3 years, so paying cash is the better return if you can. Financing suits households that would otherwise keep paying the bill: the instalment replaces most of it, and when the loan ends the electricity is close to free for the remaining 20-plus years of panel life.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get a solar system on instalments in Pakistan?

Yes. Several Pakistani banks offer consumer financing for residential solar, typically over one to five years, and some accept a supplier quotation as part of the application. Terms and markup vary by bank and change over time, so confirm current rates with the bank before deciding.

How much is the monthly instalment for a 10 kW solar system?

At SNM’s published price of Rs 700,000 for 10 kW on-grid, an illustrative 20 percent per annum reducing-balance loan works out to roughly Rs 26,000 a month over three years or Rs 18,500 a month over five years. Your bank’s actual rate will set the real figure.

Is financing worth it if the payback is only 2 to 3 years?

For most households the instalment is close to the electricity bill it replaces, so the switch is close to cash-flow neutral from month one while the bank is paid off. If you can pay cash, the roughly 2-to-3-year payback is the better return; financing is for people who would otherwise keep paying LESCO.

Does SNM arrange the bank loan?

We prepare the itemised quotation and specification your bank asks for and advise on the documents typically required. The loan agreement is between you and the bank.
