A 1 kanal house in Pakistan typically needs a 10 to 25 kW solar system, which costs Rs 700,000 to Rs 1,750,000 on-grid, or Rs 1,500,000 to Rs 3,750,000 hybrid with a lithium battery, installed at SNM Solutions’ published rates.
Why 10 to 25 kW
A 1 kanal plot is roughly 4500 square feet, and a household of that size usually runs four to six air conditioners, along with fans, lights, a fridge, a washing machine and a water pump. That daytime load is what the system is sized against, not the plot area and not your total monthly units.
Two limits also apply. Your system cannot exceed the sanctioned load printed on your LESCO bill, and since 2026 LESCO will not approve a new connection where the local transformer is already at 80 percent solar saturation. We check both before quoting.
Prices for a 1 kanal house
| Size | On-grid | Hybrid (with battery) | Daily output |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 kW | Rs 700,000 | Rs 1,500,000 | 40 units |
| 15 kW | Rs 1,050,000 | Rs 2,250,000 | 60 units |
| 20 kW | Rs 1,400,000 | Rs 3,000,000 | 80 units |
| 25 kW | Rs 1,750,000 | Rs 3,750,000 | 100 units |
Installed, including the complete LESCO net-billing application. LESCO’s own charges, including about Rs 1,000 per kW to NEPRA, are separate.
Will the roof take it?
Almost always, yes. After allowing for the water tank, stairwell and walking space, a 1 kanal roof comfortably carries up to about 25 kW using modern 585 to 715 watt panels. In practice your sanctioned load and your daytime consumption decide the size long before roof area does.
On-grid or hybrid for a 1 kanal home?
If most of your electricity is used while the sun is up, on-grid gives the better return: it is less than half the price per kW and there is no battery to replace. If load-shedding is a problem, or a good share of your use is in the evening, hybrid is worth the extra, because stored solar used at night displaces electricity that would otherwise cost Rs 55 to 65 a unit instead of earning Rs 11 as an export.
Since the battery is bought for backup rather than for savings, we leave it out of the payback maths. On that basis both options return the investment in roughly 2 to 3 years.
Frequently asked questions
What size solar system is needed for a 1 kanal house?
Most 1 kanal homes with four to six air conditioners run 10 to 25 kW. The right figure comes from your daytime electricity use rather than the plot size, and it cannot exceed the sanctioned load on your LESCO bill.
How much does solar cost for a 1 kanal house in Pakistan?
At SNM’s published rates, 10 kW on-grid is Rs 700,000 and 25 kW on-grid is Rs 1,750,000. Hybrid with lithium battery is Rs 150,000 per kW, so 10 kW hybrid is Rs 1,500,000 and 25 kW hybrid is Rs 3,750,000. Installed, including the LESCO net-billing application.
Will a 1 kanal roof fit the panels?
Yes. A 1 kanal plot is about 4500 square feet, and after leaving room for water tanks, stairs and walkways a typical roof takes up to about 25 kW of modern high-wattage panels. Roof space is rarely the limit; your sanctioned load and daytime use usually decide the size first.
How much will a 1 kanal house save with solar?
Under 2026 net billing, every unit you use yourself saves roughly Rs 55 to 65 and exported units earn about Rs 11. A correctly sized system for a 1 kanal home typically pays for itself in about 2 to 3 years at current tariffs.
Should I choose on-grid or hybrid?
On-grid costs less and returns more if your usage is mostly in daylight, but it switches off during load-shedding. Hybrid adds a battery so essential loads keep running and evening use comes from stored solar instead of the grid. Most homes that suffer load-shedding choose hybrid.
