Check the voltage before anything else
This is the most common and most expensive purchasing mistake we see, and it has nothing to do with capacity.
A battery must match your inverter’s DC voltage. Most whole-home hybrid systems in Pakistan run at 48 V or 51.2 V. The 1.28 kWh unit is 12.8 V, which suits small standalone setups, a shop backup or a single-room system, and cannot be paired with a 48 V or 51.2 V hybrid inverter.
Note also that the 15 kWh is 48 V while the 16 kWh is 51.2 V. If your inverter is 51.2 V, that decides between them regardless of price.
Where the value actually is
Look at the per-kWh column rather than the headline price:
- 15 kWh at Rs 40,000 per kWh is the best value in the range.
- 10 kWh at Rs 46,000 per kWh is the practical choice for most homes.
- 1.28 kWh at Rs 54,688 per kWh is the most expensive per unit stored, which is normal for small batteries and fine if a small battery is genuinely what you need.
One thing worth flagging plainly: stepping from the 15 kWh to the 16 kWh costs Rs 60,000 for a single extra kWh. That is poor marginal value, and only makes sense if your inverter needs 51.2 V rather than 48 V. We would rather tell you that than sell you the larger number.
Sizing it to your evening
Size storage to the load that runs after sunset, not to your whole daily consumption. Rough figures for a Pakistani home:
| What you want to run in the evening | Usable kWh needed | Sensible battery |
|---|---|---|
| Lights, fans, fridge, internet | about 3 kWh | 5.12 kWh — Rs 235,000 |
| The above plus one 1.5-ton AC for ~5 hours | about 9 kWh | 10 kWh — Rs 460,000 |
| The above plus a second AC, or longer hours | about 13 kWh | 15 kWh — Rs 600,000 |
Full working is in our battery sizing guide, and the load figures per appliance are in how many panels to run an AC.
Why storage is worth more since February 2026
Under net billing, electricity exported to the grid earns about Rs 11 per unit while a unit you consume yourself saves the full tariff of roughly Rs 55 to 65. A battery moves your daytime surplus into the evening, where it displaces expensive grid power instead of being sold cheaply.
That is why storage stopped being purely a load-shedding purchase and became a financial one. See the 2026 net billing guide and why lithium now pays for itself.
Battery alone, or a complete system
These are battery-only prices. A complete installed hybrid system from SNM is Rs 150,000 per kW, which includes panels, hybrid inverter, lithium battery, structure, wiring, protections, installation and the full LESCO net-billing application. On-grid without storage is Rs 70,000 per kW. See system prices by size, or inverter prices if you are building it up separately.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a lithium battery cost in Pakistan in 2026?
At SNM Solutions’ current rates, Hisel lithium batteries run from Rs 70,000 for 1.28 kWh to Rs 660,000 for 16 kWh. The best value per unit stored is the 15 kWh at about Rs 40,000 per kWh; the small 1.28 kWh unit is the most expensive per kWh at about Rs 54,700.
What size battery do I need for one air conditioner?
A 1.5-ton inverter AC running five evening hours needs roughly 6 kWh of usable storage. Allowing for 85 percent usable depth, that means a bank of about 7 kWh or more, so in practice the 10 kWh unit at Rs 460,000.
What does usable capacity mean?
Lithium batteries should not be fully drained. At a safe 85 percent depth of discharge, a 10 kWh battery gives about 8.5 kWh in practice. Always size on usable capacity, not the headline rating.
Does the battery voltage need to match my inverter?
Yes, and this is the most common purchasing mistake. A 12.8 V battery cannot be paired with a 48 V or 51.2 V hybrid inverter. Most whole-home hybrid systems in Pakistan run at 48 V or 51.2 V, so the 12.8 V unit suits only very small standalone setups.
Is a bigger battery better value?
Up to a point. The 15 kWh at Rs 40,000 per kWh is the sweet spot in this range. Stepping from 15 kWh to 16 kWh costs Rs 60,000 for one extra kWh, which is poor marginal value unless you specifically need 51.2 V rather than 48 V.
How long do these batteries last?
Lithium iron phosphate cells are rated for roughly 6,000 cycles, which is ten to fifteen years in normal daily home use. The warranty here is 5 years on most models and 3 years on the smallest.
