The prices are based on SNM’s published rates of Rs 70,000 per kW for on-grid and Rs 150,000 per kW for hybrid. The gap between the two is almost entirely the battery. In Pakistan most homes and businesses install a battery for load-shedding and voltage protection whether or not they go solar, which is why we treat it as a separate purchase when we talk about payback below.

During the day a 8 kW system will comfortably run four inverter ACs, a refrigerator and deep freezer, a water pump, the kitchen and all lighting, or a small shop through the working day. It is the right size for homes with four ACs that do not quite need 10 kW, and small shops or offices with a steady daytime load.
Who a 8 kW system is right for
Eight kilowatts is the least-searched size in this range and often the best-fitting one. A 1-kanal home whose daytime use is moderate can find 10 kW exports a third of its output at Rs 11, while 8 kW is consumed almost entirely on site. This is also the size at which we start recommending a three-phase connection, because it keeps the LESCO net-billing application simple and leaves room to expand later without changing the meter.
Savings and payback for a 8 kW system under net billing
Since 9 February 2026, new connections are on net billing rather than net metering: surplus you export earns about Rs 11 per unit, while every unit you use yourself still saves the full tariff of roughly Rs 55 to 65. The maths below uses conservative assumptions: Rs 50 per unit all-in, half of the output used directly and half exported.
